How to Put a Big Clock on Your Second Monitor
Turn a spare monitor into a full-screen clock in under a minute, with no software to install.
A second monitor is the perfect place for a clock you can read at a glance. Here's the quickest way to set one up, on Windows or Mac.
The one-minute setup
- Open onlineclock.app in a new browser window (not just a tab).
- Drag that window onto your second monitor.
- Press F or click Full screen. The clock fills that monitor only, and the buttons fade away.
- Turn on Keep screen on if your monitor tends to sleep while you're on the other screen.
Pick a display that's easy on the eyes
If the clock sits next to your work all day, a dim theme is easier on the eyes. The amber and red LED themes are the least distracting in a dark room. In a bright office, Paper (black on white) matches most apps.
Want something other than a clock?
- A world clock keeps the time for your team's cities in view.
- A Pomodoro timer paces focused work.
- A flip clock looks good on a desk or shelf screen.
Troubleshooting
Full screen opens on the wrong monitor. Move the window to the screen you want first, then go full screen.
The clock disappears when I click my main screen. On some setups, a full-screen window on macOS gets its own Space. Instead, maximize the window (double-click the title bar) rather than using full screen.
