How week numbers work
This page uses ISO 8601 week numbers, the standard in Europe and most business software. Weeks start on Monday, and week 1 is the week that contains the year's first Thursday. That's why January 1 can fall in week 52 or 53 of the previous year.
Leap years
A year is a leap year if it divides evenly by 4, except century years, which must divide by 400. So 2000 was a leap year and 2100 won't be. Leap years have 366 days, with February 29 added.
Julian date
Astronomers count days continuously from noon on January 1, 4713 BC. The Julian date is that count, with the fraction showing the time of day in UTC.
