How many days until Winter?
This counts down to the December solstice, the astronomical first day of winter and the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. It falls on December 21 or 22 (dates here are for US Eastern time). Meteorologists count winter from December 1. The next one is Monday, December 21, 2026.
The countdown uses your device's clock and switches to the following year automatically once the day has passed.
