Study timer
Start a focus block for homework, revision or exam practice. The default is 50 minutes, a common study block; change it to anything you like.
Study block lengths that work
- 25 minutes: one Pomodoro. Good when a subject feels hard to start.
- 45 to 50 minutes: about one school period. Take a 10-minute break after.
- 90 minutes: a deep block for essays or problem sets. Take a 20-minute break after.
Put your phone in another room, write down the one task for this block, and start the timer. When it rings, stop, stand up and take a real break.
Press Space to start or pause, R to reset and F for full screen. Quick picks: Pomodoro timer · 25 minutes · 45 minutes · 90 minutes.
Questions people ask
How long should I study before a break?
Most people focus well for 25 to 50 minutes. Take a 5 to 10-minute break after each block and a longer break after about two hours.
Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. It keeps exact time in a background tab and shows the time left in the tab title. Keep the tab open so the alarm can ring.
