When a holiday falls on a Saturday it is observed on the Friday before; on a Sunday, the Monday after. Banks and some businesses also close on other days.
Questions people ask
What counts as a business day?
Monday to Friday, not counting public holidays. By default the calculator skips the 11 US federal holidays, using the observed date when a holiday falls on a weekend.
Is the start date counted?
No. Like most delivery and contract deadlines, counting starts the day after the start date, and the end date is counted if it's a business day. Tick Count the start date to include it.
How many business days are in a year?
Usually 260 to 262 weekdays, minus holidays. 2027 has 261 weekdays and, after US federal holidays (including New Year's Day 2028, observed on Friday, December 31, 2027), 249 business days.
