EST – Eastern Standard Time
EST is UTC−5.
Eastern Standard Time is used in the eastern US and Canada (New York, Washington DC, Miami, Atlanta, Toronto, Montreal) in winter, from the first Sunday in November to the second Sunday in March. Jamaica, Panama and Cancún use it all year.
In summer, places on EST switch to EDT (Eastern Daylight Time, UTC−4). People often keep saying “EST” all year, but strictly it's only correct in the standard-time months.
