Questions people ask
What generation am I if I was born in 1996?
Pew Research Center counts 1996 as the last year of the Millennials (1981–1996). Because it sits on the boundary, many people born that year also identify with Generation Z.
What years are Gen Z?
Pew Research Center defines Generation Z as people born from 1997 to 2012.
What years are Gen Alpha?
Pew has not set an end year. The common definition, after demographer Mark McCrindle, who named the generation, is 2010 or 2013 to 2024; this tool starts it in 2013, right after Pew's Gen Z.
What comes after Gen Alpha?
Generation Beta: children born from 2025 to about 2039, a label proposed by Mark McCrindle.
Are generation dates official?
No. They are conventions used by researchers and media, and sources differ by a year or two at the edges. People born near a boundary, often called "cuspers", can share traits of both.
